plate warmer # 3

so, Sue wants to learn to knit sox

she came to my house

i gave her enuff yarn to knit at least 10 pairs of sox

then forgot to take a pic

gave her some readers too

she needs them for the sock knitting

while she was learning sox

i felt the NEED to knit

so i started another tam
the first hat was blocking on a plate
someone asked what it was
i replyed "Plate Warmer"
it stuck
2nd plate warmer should be done drying
i could WEAR it since it's cold out
winter usualy comes to Georgia before now
and is USUALLY done
not complaining
the weather is better down here
than up north
and NO SNOW!!!!!

Thursday, February 28

something with the hair
and adding make-up

with Sue's help

Wednesday, February 27

blocked & drying

9:00 pm 2-27 => DONE KNITTING!!!

too many things to do, not ENUFF time

you know how it goes
you have a LONG to do list
some things get done fast
others at a snails pace

well ...
the handle of the rollerboard broke
i could still use it
the wheel broke
since i wasn't sure where to go to
get it fixed
i bought a cheapy @ walmart
today
i went to Hapeville
to get new wheels
tomoro or in a day or 3
i will go to Fayetteville
to get the handle fixed
had i known that someone in Fayetteville
could fix it
i would have had it fixed
SOMETIMES
it's easier to pay someone to fix things
so i can accomplish something else

gotta take the uniform in
to be altered
it's too tight
hopin' she can let it out an inch or so
re-attach the buttons
fix the hem (maybe shorten it an inch or so)
saw some shoes in Hapeville
do i NEED new shoes
will they hurt my feet
they ARE Dansko
the list of things to do isn't getting any shorter
i keep finding things that need done
if i stay home for a month
will i get ALL Caught Up??
do i really want to get caught up

Tuesday, February 26

met the woman who owns this site

CORN yarn

here are a few of the possible color
choices for the Corn Yarn
that i will design sox for
NANCY is dyeing the yarn

coffee sleeve for Gabby

so, i decided to try to personalize

a sleeve

5 letters is a challenge

next time i won't use so many letters

AND

i won't make it so large

got 2 sleeves from one skein

and enuff yarn to make at least one more

her name is done in the

slate SWS i had left over

from the Tam

lattes vs calories

i was warned against lattes since i want to
reduce my waistline
too many calories

well IF I buy it ... yeah
they add sweetner (honey i think)
to Tazo Chai that Starbucks & Seattles's Best
use as a base for their Lattes
they use 2% milk

at home,
i use 1%
will buy skim next time
and tea with NO sweetners added
so,
i am only getting the calories
from 2/3 cup of 1% milk
and if i am using 2 tea bags
per cup of Latte
i am depleting my supply
of tea
i haven't counted how MANY types
i have
maybe i SHOULD
hehehehehehehehe

lattes

so, i bought a cappicino machine
Tazo Chai & Oregon Chai are about the same
is YUM, YUM, YUMMY as a Latte
it's GREAT as hot tea
Bigleow Apple Cider is great as a tea
as a latte .. nah
so, i have LOTS of teas
some herbals
some greens
some blacks
some loose
some in sachets or bags
gonna try them as lattes
not sure what will determine IF it's good
in latte form
guess i will HAVE to try it to see

yarn

Nancy got in some sock knitting yarn
it's made from corn
don't ask me how
anyways
she is dyeing /has dyed it
she picked colors I would like
orange
yellow
teal
i may have to buy some of ALL of it
i want WHITE (un-dyed) for the mitts & headband
it will be the snowflake
anyways
if she sends me pix, i will get to decide on the color
hoping she gets it in the mail today
i need it thur so it can go to Mexico with me on Fri

i got DAFFODILS

so i got home yesterday afternoon
i noticed there were TWO daffodils
in the front garden
went out to dinner with a friend
saw a few hedges of forsythias
i LOVE forsythia hedges
and Daffodils
they are so brite & cheerful

someday
i will live in a house that
has Forsythia Hedges
and big beds of flowering bulbs
and beds with Azaleas
ITMT
i will admire everyone else's

had major t-storms today
knocked over the planter on the back porch

gonna go outside and walk for a while
taking the cell so i can take pix
will update them here so you can see
the wonderous things i get to see
when i am home

had FUN this past weekend

i have flowen with both pilots before
will fly with Adam on Fri to Mexico
Sue was FUN!!!!
she is here on Thur & Fri
so, i will start to teach her to
knit 2 sox- 2 circs
she is a BLAST to work with
and SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOO funny
i want to work out
she wouldn't let me drink pop
we did hit the treadmill
and talked about knitting, sewing, crocheting
crafting in general
her family
i had SSSOOOO much FUN flying with her
she made a list of what i have to do
while i am off
her friends call her "MAMA SMURF"
she is such a mom
but in a GOOD way
she told me she will try to bifd to fly
with me in April
we could be dangerous together
hehehehehehehehehehe

Tam 2 = "B"

think i started this around 2-22
as of 2-25 / 10:07 PM

i LOVE the way it looks
reminds me of Easter Eggs

PAJAMA PARTY

haven't been to a pajama party in over 30 years
Nancy is having one at her shop for
members of Whenever Again & New Yarns
i will be getting yarn to design sox for the party
the sox will be sold to the groups in April
the party will be held in the shop
Fri March 14th after it closes
it's gonna be FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!

i gotta buy new jammies & slippers
yup
wearing them to the airport
and on the plane
will get pix

i NEED to learn to hand felt small stuff
so i created another coffee cup sleeve
will hand out the pattern at the pj party
then will post it to my blog in April

it started as Shannon's Fault

so, for my partner for SP10
i made her a sleeve 'cause she
drinks LOTS of Starbucks coffee

since she didn't know who i was
she called me Mary

well
i made a few & lost the directions
people keep asking me for one
so, i reknit one today
tweeking the pattern
gonna knit a few this weekend
using left overs

coffee cup sleeve

it's LARGE enuff
to cover the 16 oz cup
maybe i should have
felted it a bit more
wonder how it fits a 20oz cup

pre-felting
hhhhhmmmmm
did i make it too big??

paton's classic wool

2 hours to knit

20 minutes to felt

# 8 circs

Wednesday, February 20

got this from Penny

NEW series

the 2nd book

this is SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOO KEWL!!!!

Can you pass the Citizenship Test

i got them all right
guess i won't be deported
WHEW!!!
had me a bit worried

what i am reading now

so, i started the Suspect
by John Lescroart
gonna hit the treadmill
& read some more
it's SO GREAT not to have to
wear readers
oh yeah ..
this is a sequel to a book
i already have but haven't read

once again ...

i have been tagged by Penny

This is a very easy one for those of you I tag.
The Rules
1.Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages.
2.Open the book to page 123 and find the 5th sentence.
3.Post the next 3 sentences.
4.Tag 5 people

OK, so the NEAREST book is
No Idle Hands (i'm not sure why i got it out- it's on the nightstand)
so following the rules
page 123
The ensuing sock knitting craze gripped the state and
assured that no Alabama soldier would lack warm socks
even though he suffered from other shortages. Attached
to a shipment of 12,000 pairs went this note from the knitters:"[M]any willing fingers are diligently plying
their needles to furnish much more needed socks."
These fingers continued until Alabama's heavy casualties
compelled them to produce linen and bandages for hospitals.

but the book i am reading is slightly farther from me
on the floor
The Suspect
haven't gotten to page 123 yet, but here goes
"God-dammit, Stuart! It never happened is not the
same thing as they won't find out. Because they always
find out!

now ... who to tag
Cathy in Ohio
Carol
Keppy (from INDY)
Monica
Nikki

Britain is Repossessing he USA

A Message from John Cleese
To: The citizens of the United States of America:

In light of your failure to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately.
Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except Kansas, which she does not fancy).
Your new prime minister, Gordon Brown, will appoint a governor for America without the need for further elections.
Congress and the Senate will be disbanded.
A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed.
To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:
You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary.

1. Then look up aluminium, and check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it.
2. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'favour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix-ize will be replaced by the suffix-ise. Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary').
3. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as "like" and "you know" is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as US English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell- checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of -ize. You will relearn your original national anthem, God Save The Queen.
4. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.
5. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.
6. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler. A permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.
7. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and this is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean.
8. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.
9. The Former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline)-roughly $6/US gallon. Get used to it.
10. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.
11. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. New Zealand beer is also acceptable as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting Nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of British Commonwealth - see what it did for them.
12. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie McDowell attempt English dialogue in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.
13. You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancies). Don't try Rugby - the South Africans and Kiwis will thrash you, like they regularly thrash us.
14. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries.
15. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad.
16. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776).
17. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 pm with proper cups, never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; strawberries in season.

God Save the Queen.
Only He can.
