iTHINK I got it

NECK - the way it is written that forms HOLES
w/smaller circ, cast on 68 stitches ~ join careful not to twist, PM, work K1, P1 for 9” / 36 rounds ~ Switch to larger circs for body of sweater
YOKE
1. YO, k23, yo, k1, place marker, yo, k9, yo, k1, pm, YO, k23, yo, k1, place marker, yo, k9, yo, k1, pm (76 st)
2. knit around, slipping markers
3. *YO, knit to 1 st before marker, yo, k1, yo * repeat around
4. knit around, slipping markers

NECK - with Personal Modifications

NUMBERS ~ GGGGRRRR!!!!

NECK

first off - i need the number at row 1 to be 76 - in actuallity it is 78 (according to my math) so i need to loose 2 stitches somewhere

2nd - sleeve stitches start with 13 - you increase 2 st at a time & end up with 50 after increasing 19 times = 38 st so, the st count for the sleeves SHOULD be 12 not 13

3rd - body stitches start with 26 for front & back = 52 ~ 19 increases = 76 -> 76 + 52 = 128 which is correct

so row 1 SHOULD be
YO, k23, yo, k1, place marker, yo, k9, yo, k1, pm, YO, k23, yo, k1, place marker, yo, k9, yo, k1, pm (76 st)

my brain hurts!

so after much ruminating
i used 3timesChic for the last sweater - i LOVE the way it fits - i want to use the same yarn & make the raglan turtleneck ~~ i made the size 44
since it was knit flat, i know i need to make some adjustments for knitting the next one in the round - number of stitches for the back & front is 67 x 2 = 134 - i know i will have to take off 1 per side seam for front AND back = 134 - 4 = 130 stitches
since it has a K2P2 rib, it needs to be divisible by 4 so body count has to be 128 or 132 - turtleneck pattern has a body stitch count of 128
sleeves are 54 st at the widest point - minus 2 stitches for the sides - 54 - 2 = 52 - wrist of sleeve has co of 30 - minus the 2 edge stitches so 30 - 2 = 28 cast on
which is divisible by 4 for the ribbing & 52 at the widest point of the sleeve - turtleneck has 50 sleeve stitches ending in 28 stitches at the cuff
the numbers of the stitches is ok, it’s just the increases that don’t add up to the correct numbers ~ NOW i have to do the math to get from where i am supposed to start to where i am supposed to end AND change the increases to a more invisible increase

CRAP ~ ANOTHER MISTAKE!!

sleeves are wrong too - start w/13 st - increase by 2 & end up w/50 - should end up w/51

OR is it start w/12 - increase by 2 & end up with 50 so you can do a K2P2 rib??
to acheive a K2P2 rib, the body & cuff have to be divisible by 4

so NOW i have to do the math for the ENTIRE sweater

gonna cast on w/ # 11 so neck is loose - knit the neck on size 10 1/2 & switch to size 13
for the body

in the pic on the pattern, it looks like the sleeves are not the same legnth

and the POINT of buying the pattern was to avoid having to "DO THE MATH" and figure everything for myself - wasted the $5.95 for nothing
:(

so, now i guess i have to call Nancy Wild & hopefully - NOT wake her up so that she can review the pattern & basically FIX the numbers
anyone that bought this pattern deserves a REFUND!!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!

so, i bought Plymouth Yarn pattern #2077 for $5.95 because i was too lazy to do the math
the pattern is WRONG!!

size med
SO,this is how the pattern is written - my math shows that IF you follow row 1 - you end up with 78 stitches NOT 76

on size 8 needles,cast on 68 st - K1P1 for 9" ~ switch to size 10 needles
1. YO, k23, yo, k1, place marker, yo, k10, yo, k1, pm, YO, k23, yo, k1, place marker, yo, k10, yo, k1, pm (76 st)
2. Knit around, slipping markers
3. *YO, knit to 1 st before marker, YO, k1, YO, sm, repeat around (84 st)
4. Knit around, slipping markers

repeat row 3 & 4 for a total of 228 stitches

so, since i have to correct their math, i mite as well change it so the increases do NOT form holes because of the YO

sleeves would be 13 st - so body & sleeve would be 38, so body would be 25,

so THEREFORE to do it the way I want w/no holes BECOMES

1. K1, M1R, K21, M1L, K1, M, K1, M1R, K9, M1L, K1, M,K1, M1R, K21, M1L, K1, M, K1, M1R, K9, M1L, K1, M (76 st)
2. knit around, slipping markers
3. K1, M1R, knit to 2 stitches before marker, M1L, K1, M, repeat around (84 st)
4. knit around, slipping markers

i'm hoping it just a lousy pic - the sleeves don't appear to be the same legnth on the pattern pic either
