Stocks for Muchkins

ok,
so 3 of the stocks will be in the same town
Cousins
so, they have to be about the same size
Galway, Cascade 220, Naturespun Worsted

i KNOW i want to do Snow Children

Knit the Stock in one color

have the BASIC pattern

i can adjust the numbers &

PURL a Snow Child out of WHITE Brown Sheep

OR a white fuzzy yarn (Angora / Mohair)

OR use HoloShimmer thread with it

then,

i can use sock yarn to knit a Hat, Scarf & Mittens

i can needlefelt OR

needlepunch the arms & embellishments

buttons for the face & down the front of the snow child

so, based on the LONGEST name being 7 letters
each letter is 5 stitches + 1 for a space = 6 stitches per letter
and i hafta add 2 spaces on both sides of the name
brings me to 46 stitches for the name
so .. 100 stitches to cast on

OTOH

i could do the name VERTICALLY

7 rows per letter + 2 rows between each letter = 9 rows per letter

9 x 7 = 63 + 2 rows above & below the name = 67 rows for the name

so, NOW i gotta graph the snow child & name before i progress too much more

i am thinkin' that they do NOT have to be Traditional Christmas Colors

so IF i knit just stocks, i COULD knit 1 stock

for each of the family members in time for

Christmas 2006

brother on one side has 6

brother on other side has 9

with possible 3 more

AND for a friend, 3

that's 21 stocks in 14 weeks

ONCE i get started ...

i can FLY thru them

OTOH,

i won't be knitting ANYthing else
